Thank you Pet Finder!

Thanks to the listing on Pet Finder, Tallon found his new forever home.  An adoption is always a bittersweet event.  We have loved and cared for these dogs as if they would always be with us.  But, we know that a home where they can have the full attention of a family is the best situation.  So thank you to everyone who adopts a shelter dog.  We can make a difference, one dog at a time!

A New Foster Dog

I received a call from the Denham Springs Animal Shelter.  One of there little guys just wasn't thriving at the shelter.  Sometimes that happens.  A shelter environment can upset the emotional state and the physical well being of the dog. So, we have another foster "child".  After a few hours of being in a home environment Tarzan perked up and was playing well with Tallon.  He is seriously underweight and suffers from intestional distress.  I put him on a bland diet and hopefully his gut will settle down and allow him to put on weight.  Right now he is under my desk playing with his new friend and enjoying life!

Please consider fostering a dog from your local animal shelter.

Work, Work, Bark, Bark, Kiss, Kiss

Trying to get anything done in the yard when the dogs are out is just about impossible.  I loaded the garden cart with stuff to take to the barn.  Got distracted and when I return the three empty styrofoam cartons for eggs looked as if they had been exploded - tiny bits of pink and blue styrofoam all over the yard.  Okay, it was my fault, but I just didn't want to rake the yard.  Honey decided the rake was a toy and wanted to play.  So I gave up!  I was working and they were barking and wanting attention. There is nothing like sitting down and having a lap full of 5 big dogs giving me kisses.  After a good face washing (a real one with soap and water) I went back to my chores!

OUR FIRST ADOPTION DAY - GRACIE HAS A NEW HOME

We held our first "Swampy Paws" Adoption Day at Tractor Supply in Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday. While the traffic was low, we had three people express interest in the dogs.

Today I received a call that our of our "maybe's" turned into a YES!!!  Gracie will be going to her new home on Friday!

Super Max!

Well, at least the folks who dumped this precious puppy dumped him where he would be safe and found quickly ( my driveway!)  So now I am paranoid about having all these dogs dumped at my front door and I won't have the heart to turn them away.  I'm considering a privacy fence so drivebys can't see the kennels.  It would provide security, but I don't know how 400' of a 6' privacy fence would look.  Maybe I shouldn't worry about looks and just think about privacy and security.  But I digress.....  back to Max.

He had his vet check yesterday and he received a clean bill of health.  He will be put up for adoption tomorrow.  His stats are:  3 months old, a shepherd mix, 18 lbs., male, and cute as can be!!!!  He is going to be a BIG boy.

Please help us find him a home.

Introducing "TALLON"

Well, here is the little guy that came in on Friday.  He is a ChiPom.  He gets along well with the other dogs and has decided he is the No. 1 couch potato!  Shhhhhh - he doesn't know it yet, but Friday is teeth and testicles day!  He gets both removed.  It seems as if he didn't shed his baby canines so they have to come out.  The other issue is important because we believe in SPAYING OR NEUTERING all dogs.  Tallon will be up for adoption on November 20th.  Please help us find him a great new home.

92,000 animals were euthanized in Louisiana last year because of over population.  Help solve this problem by being a responsible pet owner.

Day One of the Blog

Another day, another dog!  Actually it was a puppy.  My bloodhound was raising cane and just would not stop barking.  I thought there must be a rabbit in the thicket behind the kennels.  So, off I went to chase the little rabbit away so I could have my Sunday afternoon nap.  But to my surprise, I found a healthy Rottweiler puppy playing in the grass near the fence. I just hope this little guy found his way here and was not dropped off.

Tomorrow is picture day.  We now have our signs for the truck, a large banner for pet adoptions, t-shirts, business cards, and adoption forms.  We are ready to have our first adoption day on Nov. 14th.  Weather permitting, we will be a Tractor Supply in Hammond, LA from 10 to 3.
